The Board of Adjustments is a quasi-judicial entity made up of citizen members to grant relief from the strict application of the Zoning Regulations or variances, approve certain uses of land and hear appeals of actions taken by the Zoning Administrator.
Quasi-judicial means that while the Board of Adjustments is not a court but their actions are similar to those taken by a judge. The Board of Adjustments apply law to a particular set of facts or circumstances to reach its decision, and their procedures are court -like.
